Social marketing for a better world

27,443 CYPs in 2015

DKT established its Myanmar program in 2013, where absence of education surrounding family planning and reproductive health has contributed to inconsistent, underdeveloped family planning and HIV prevention efforts nationally. Sexuality is a highly taboo subject, which has led to inadequate access to sexual health information and services. Maternal mortality, which particularly endangers women from rural areas, is high for the region at 200 deaths per 100,000 live births. Myanmar also has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in Asia, with an estimated 200,000 people living with HIV/AIDS.

DKT Myanmar was developed to address these issues. Its main programmatic goals are to introduce new contraceptive technologies to the market, utilize marketing strategies to increase understanding and acceptance of family planning, and expand the availability of products and services across the country.

In 2015, DKT Myanmar sold almost 700,000 condoms, more than 4,000 IUDs, generating 27,443 CYPs.
